Balloons over the Masai Mara Reserve.

Early one morning, as we started our game drive in the Masai Mara during the annual wildebeest migration, I counted 15 hot air balloons taken off. I had done such a flight in the Serengeti with my wife a few years earlier and it was a great way of appreciating the landscape. But there were two balloons only. The Masai Mara has become extremely commercial and I don’t feel the sense of wilderness I encountered in other parks. On top of that, a lot of irresponsible “guides” drive off road, slowly damaging the grass land and harassing the animals. I am glad I saw the migration but the Masai Mara is not a place where I want to go back to.
