Malachite Kingfisher on Perch
My favourite bird. I was alone, on a very early morning drive in Lake Nakuru National Park and I was looking carefully in an area where I had spotted leopard before. This little chap landed a few metres from the car. I stopped and took a series of pictures as he was a very good model for once. Unfortunately, a minibus full of noisy tourists approached and it flew away. They asked me what I was looking at. Their answer was “Oh, just a bird!” and zoomed off. I sometimes despair!
