
Lilac Breasted Roller Playing with Insect
With the kingfishers and the bee-eaters, the rollers are amongst my favourite birds. It was amazing to watch this one toss the beetle in the air and turn it in its beak until it was in the right position to be swallowed. The whole process lasted a good 5 minutes, allowing me plenty of time to take pictures.
